Upcoming Events:

FIELD TRIP - ‘En Plein Aire’ - Sketching in Ashton Park, West Kirby
It seems that most of our members would be happy to spend a day sketching/painting in Ashton Park but non-members are also welcome. Meet at the Carpenters Lane entrance at 10 am. If you are thinking of coming please let Sue Evans know (sgcastree@ yahoo.co.uk) so we can contact you in the event of bad weather and a change of venue.
A few of our members who live on the Park’s boundary have offered “the use of facilities” if needed. Bring a picnic lunch or there is a good choice of cafes nearby.
Ashton Park is a late Victorian park and has an interesting history built between 1899 and 1902 through the goodwill of two landowners Miss Emma Mary Ashton and St. Bridget’s Church. After Miss Ashton’s death in 1935 her part of the land was sold into public ownership with the Local Council and the remainder of the park land still owned by the Church of England (Diocese of Chester). The Park is owned and maintained by the Wirral Council in partnership with the Friends of Ashton Park.

ANDREW JENKIN - still life flowers in the style of Shirley Trevena - water colour with option mixed media
Thank you Andrew for a very inspiring workshop detailed below
These lovely flower images are just examples of Andrew’s work - and are are not what we'll be painting.
Message from Andrew re the workshop:
“As Flowers are the agreed subject, it would be good if all members of the group could bring some with them to paint (I'll bring some extras just in case people forget).
We will be working in the style of Shirley Trevena (see link below), so it would also be good if members could bring 1 still-life item (vase, jug, glass, ornament) and 1 patterned or colourful fabric (cloth, shawl, blanket). There's no need to set this up as a still-life arrangement, just have the objects with them (all will be explained!).
It's watercolour as usual, with optional mixed media (ink, pastels, acrylic).
Here's the list :
Flowers
Still-life object
Patterned or colourful fabric
Here's the link to see Shirley Trevena 's work : Gallery – Shirley Trevena”
